I feel incredibly privileged as Headteacher to represent the incredible work undertaken by my staff in nurturing and developing the ambitions and interests of the children of our community. At Noel- Baker, I truly believe that every child is encouraged to be extraordinary.
My staff and I are dedicated to fostering an environment of excellence and high aspirations. Our mission is to ensure that each student is provided with the opportunities and support necessary to fulfil their individual potential. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of education, nurturing a culture of ambition, and instilling a lifelong love of learning.
Every member of our school community, is challenged daily to be the best version of ourselves – be that through our conduct, our endeavour or our personal resilience. Success rarely comes easily, and the most worthwhile achievements are earned through hard work and dedication. That is not to say that learning should not be fun, and we aim to encourage intellectual curiosity by delivering a rigorous and enriching curriculum. We set high expectations for all our students, encouraging them to strive for excellence in all that they do.

🎉 Zara M-T (Year 11) has been announced as one of the final four candidates for Derby Youth Mayor 2026. This outstanding achievement reflects her dedication, leadership skills, and passion for giving young people a voice across the city.
During last night’s penultimate selection round, Zara impressed the panel and earned her place in the final stage of the process. Her next step is to create a campaign video, which will be shared with all Derby schools in the third week of January. Students citywide will then be invited to cast their votes.
We are incredibly proud of Zara and all she has achieved so far.

Is an e-scooter on your Christmas list? 🎄 Before you make that purchase, we want to remind you that e-scooters can only be used legally on private land. Over the past year, Derbyshire officers have seized over 600 e-scooters that were ridden illegally on public paths and roads, and these have been destroyed, with parts recycled where possible.
Thanks to our proactive approach, the number of injuries related to e-scooter collisions has halved! 💪 Inspector Lee Welsby emphasises the importance of community safety: “We’re addressing concerns raised in community meetings and surveys about e-scooters causing risks on pavements and being involved in crime.”
Please do your research before adding e-scooters to your Christmas shopping list, ensuring all presents can be used safely and legally!
Please also note that e-scooters are not allowed to enter the school grounds. As a school we work closely with the community team, if any e-scooters are seen within the campus our Police Community Officer will be informed!
